The images here are born of professional assignments for venues, bands or publications, or simply when the combination of restlessness and serendipity led me to duck into a nightclub. Most official concert photography these days is tightly controlled, performed in a small pit in front of the stage, and only captures the first three songs of a band's set. Though I do shoot these on occasion I am much more interested in seeing the event from the corners of the room, or what effect the act has on their fans. For instance, though Nick Cave is the main subject of one of the shots displayed here, it is the mutual reverence between musician and room that I see.
